Walking around The National Mall you see the Washington Monument, the Lincoln Memorial, MLK, Albert Einstein, Thomas Jefferson...All men. So I thought it was time for DC to honor some Women. The Inside of the the spiral contains portraits of all the Women in the National Women's Hall of Fame. The idea is that as more women are inducted the spiral will grow. The shape of the the monument itself reflects the women's movement- growing and moving upward, and the monument will continue to grow every year.
